Board & Train Process Overview

With any new relationship, it only works if we are a good fit. The process starts with us having a conversation, and hearing your needs.

From there we will meet in person, and socialize your dog with one of our trusted pups. This will give a great understanding of training and behavior needs, if all goes well we will schedule a time to begin working together.

The process is streamlined, straightforward, and provides exceptional results. My clients step into a seemingly brand new relationship with their dog that is all they have dreamed of. This can be your story!

Basics

All dogs are always developing and have the basics reinforced. Sit, down, stay, go to your bed, loose leash walking, leash-less walking, recall, and any other desired responses.

Play

Our small group of dogs engages in positive play to renew their primal instincts and allows them to celebrate with the pack. From shy to aggressive, this gives each dog space to grow and progress.

Socialization

At all times we have our ‘hero’ dogs that help to model and demonstrate the desired behaviors. This causes a mirroring effect that provides social reinforcement and accelerates training.

Care

With small packs of pups, our expert team gives your dog the most intentional care possible. The 24/7 care builds deep trust, willingness and longstanding results that only this level of attention can provide.

Frequently asked
board & train questions

  • Our stays are dependent on the animal. On average they are 2 weeks and as long as 6 weeks. Throughout their stay, we are in ongoing communication based on our intake assessment to ensure negative behaviors are resolved and positive ones have been firmly established.

  • Absolutely! It is a highly effective method for teaching new behaviors and solving many problems. New pups and old, it is foundational for instilling manners that translate to your home.

We highly value teaching foundational obedience, leash walking, and house manners in a structured board and train setting.

  • For puppies, there are developmental areas that are natural for them to exhibit - nipping, potty training trouble, and attention-seeking behaviors like stealing items are very common. We assist with their growth and provide you as a caretaker tools to reinforce positive behavior and address your personal in-home behaviors.

Also, for dogs with extreme separation anxiety, in-home care is recommended before a board & train service is recommended.

  • We highly value your trust and see the mental, as well as physical wellbeing of your dog part of our core mission. You are empowered to ensure our methodology aligns with your values and all of our process info can be found on our methods page. We pride ourselves in transparent & humane practices.

  • Your families patterns and behaviors will need to be adjusted to ensure the highest level of retention. As trainers, we instruct our clients that training is never done. Each day you will need to maintain what your dog has learned to empower them to remain within rules & boundaries. Consistency is essential and it will create the long-term results every time.

  • 7-8 weeks

Veterinarians, veterinary techs, animal behaviorists and many trainers now recommend (myself included) that puppies (who are in great health) begin classes as around 7-8 weeks.

  • Not at all. While some adult dogs might learn more slowly, it's never too late to teach an older dog to listen and obey. Old dogs can learn new tricks, counter to the cultural adage. Some adult dogs might even learn at an increased rate because they're less easily distracted than when they were puppies.
