Summer Fun with Your Furry Friend: Creative Activities for Your Dog

Ah, summer! The perfect time to get outside and play with your dog. Our pups love the sunshine and warm weather just as much as we do but, it can be challenging to come up with new and exciting activities to do with your pooch. Fear not, my friends! We’ve got some fun and creative ideas that will keep your pup entertained all summer long.

Water Fun: Dogs love water! So why not take them for a swim in a nearby lake or ocean? If that's not possible, you can always set up a kiddie pool in your backyard. If you have a sprinkler, your dog may enjoy chasing the water too.

Sniffing Games: Dogs have an incredible sense of smell, so why not play a game that utilizes their sniffing skills? Hide treats or toys around the yard or house and let your dog go on a scavenger hunt. You can also play "find the treat" where you hide treats in different locations and your dog has to find them.

Doggy Playdates: Set up a playdate with other dog owners in your area. Not only will your dog have a blast playing with other pups, but you may make some new friends too.

Dog Park Adventures: Visit a new local dog park where your dog can run and play with other dogs off-leash. This is a great way to socialize your dog.

Brain Games: Keeping your dog's mind stimulated is just as important as physical exercise. Try teaching your dog new tricks or play puzzle games that require them to problem-solve… Improving dog cognition is a real thing, and this will keep them occupied and make them smarter, win win!

Pup-sicles: Make some pup-sicles for your dog by freezing their favorite treats in an ice cube tray! See our past blog post about how to make these here.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. Remember, the key is to have fun with your pup and enjoy the summer together. And if you ever need more ideas or some expert dog training tips, don't hesitate to reach out to us.
